Song of The Week

Our Song of The Week Is By Jimmy Gait

This week we feature the Song ‘Roho’  (Holy Spirit)  by Jimmy Gait. The song is a call for us to let the Holy Spirit guide us in everything that we do.

Or as He puts it in his own words,… “The song is an appeal for us as Christians to follow the leading of The Spirit of God in everything we do. This will help us to please God and be in the right position with Him, which will guarantee us a great life here on earth, and eventually Eternal life.

We couldn’t say it any better.

The song is sang in his native Kikuyu  dialect, but Jimmy is courteous enough to input English subtitles in the video. It samples a Kikuyu folk praise song and is very popular and sang during many Church praise and worship sessions in Kenya. As is ever so often the case, no matter how diversified a nation is, one always feels a stronger connection when conversing in their native language.
They say foreign languages speak to the mind but native languages speak to the heart. I guess this is why Jimmy chose to sing the song in it’s original language, perhaps as a way of expressing the inner desire of his own heart, to be truly led by the Spirit.
We feature this song because as a Church, this is our greatest desire as well, and we believe this ought to be the desire of every born again and confessing believer and non-believer as well. That the believer ought to be led only by the Spirit, and the non-believer ought to desire to come to the knowledge, confession and belief in Christ and subsequently be led by the Spirit too, for this constitutes the greatest way any man can live.
